We often hear the term "overburning", but many of us still feel strange, or do not know the meaning of that term. Overburning is the process of burning the disc CD or DVD through the limit of it's capacity. Is public secret that the CD has a standard capacity, which is 650 Mb and 700 Mb, so that when we burn a CD, burned the capacity must be equal to or less than the capacity. But with the overburn feature, we can burn a CD or DVD over maximum capacity. For example if try to burn data on 700 MB CD, we can burn up to 720 Mb or even up to 800 Mb. But it all depends on the quality of the CD itself.Many producers prefer disc deliberately long fuel line data disc on their periphery. The area was named lead out. Lead out itself is actually made out to provide tolerance for the device to the audio CD player to read the front of the CD fragment. Almost all CD-RW or DVD-RW can do overburning. However, the data can be written out in the Lead out area vary widely. Theoretically, the area in the lead-out can burn up to 10% of the total capacity, but the fact is, the area that leads out to be burned only around 1%-5% of total capacity.
Almost all of the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive can read data from the lead out. Therefore, the software generally make and market their sofware disc already in-overburn. The goal, in addition to reducing production costs, but also to facilitate the making of copy protection system their software.
