Guest post by Chris Pentago. Find Chris on Twitter and Google+.

With every passing year, mobile phones become more advanced. With the current smartphone craze, a newer and more powerful device is always right around the corner. As the year begins to wind down, we take a look at the best new mobile phones available.

Motorola Droid RAZR

Motorola Droid RAZRThe Droid RAZR represents a merging of two of the most iconic brands in the history of mobile phones. Many will recall Motorola's 2004 RAZR, the thinnest phone of its era. The Droid RAZR follows in its footsteps, measuring an incredibly thin 7.1 millimeters. The Droid RAZR runs Android 3.0 Gingerbread and is powered by the latest hardware. It has specs that tech fans drool over. The device features a 4.3 Super AMOLED Advanced display and dual-core processor. The phone also has a front-facing camera for video chat, and can shoot HD video. On top of all of this, Motorola coated the Droid RAZR with Kevlar and a splash guard, making the Droid RAZR resistant to spills.

Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung Galaxy S2
The international version of the Galaxy S2 has been available for some time overseas, but it just recently made its way to US carriers. The specs vary between carrier, but the theme remains the same: A massive screen that's around 4.5 inches, a dual-core processor, front and back cameras, and a thin build that's extremely sleek. The phone runs Android 3.0 with Samsung's TouchWiz skin and custom widgets, making the experience of using the device just a bit more friendly for the casual crowd. For anyone who's not on Verizon and can't get the Droid RAZR, the Galaxy S2 is their best bet for a thin phone with a beautiful screen and slim build.

Google and Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Samsung Galaxy NexusGoogle and Samsung have teamed up once more for the latest Nexus device from Google. The Galaxy Nexus sports the features everyone would expect, such as a dual-core processor and front-facing and rear-facing cameras. A few things set it apart from the rest, though. For starters, it has a 4.6" Super AMOLED screen capable of displaying HD video. It has what Google calls a contour display, meaning the screen is slightly curved allowing for easier use. Perhaps most importantly, it is the first device to run what Google calls Ice Cream Sandwich, otherwise known as Android 4.0. Android 4.0 features an overhauled user experience that is faster and sleeker, and requires no physical buttons on the device. Because of this, the Galaxy Nexus is going to be on the cutting edge of both hardware and software.

Apple iPhone 4S

Apple iPhone 4SThe latest iPhone continues to help set the standard when it comes to ease of use, speed and form factor. The device builds on the beautiful design standards established by the iPhone 4 but throws a faster, dual-core processor into the mix along with a much improved camera. The iPhone 4S also includes Apple's proprietary voice recognition software, Siri. Siri lets users operate the device with their voices instead of fingers. Those looking for a reliable and simple smartphone experience can't go wrong with the iPhone 4S.

There are new mobile phones being released constantly. None will last forever before the next great thing comes out, however, these devices are among those with specs that will last for the long haul. All of these devices are available now or will be by the end of November, making them a great pick for the holiday season. Which one would you pick? Tell us in the comments below.

iPhone 4S + More

Kamis, 06 Oktober 2011
Apple recently hosted a keynote announcement , announcing its new iPhone, as well as a few minor updates to the iPod line.
Siri on the iPhone 4S

iPhone 4S:

Although some were expecting a completely new and redesigned iPhone 5, Apple will probably wait for 2012 to announce the iPhone 5. Until then, we will have to live with the more minor updates of the new iPhone 4S.

The 4S keeps the same beautiful and elegant design as the iPhone 4, but now comes packed with the same Apple A5 processor found in the iPad 2. This new chip allows for a much snappier experience, along with the ability to carry out more powerful tasks on the iPhone. Although the 4S has a much more powerful processor, battery life is still great, with up to eight hours of talk time on a single charge.

Another major update in the iPhone 4S is the camera. The iPhone 4's camera was always known as a great one, especially for a cell phone camera. The 4S's camera is even greater than its predecessor, with an 8 megapixel sensor, as well as many other improvements to the picture quality. The camera can also now provide 1080p video recording.

The iPhone 4S will also come pre-loaded with Apple's newest mobile operating system, iOS 5. Click here for an overview of iOS 5.

The most talked about feature on the new iPhone 4S is most probably Siri. In April of 2010, Apple bought the voice-command recognition company Siri. Apple is now integrating Siri into it's newest iPhone. To activate Siri, one just holds down the home button on the iPhone, and the Siri window pops up. Users can ask Siri almost anything, and it will answer. It can be used to schedule tasks, play music, dictate emails, look up facts, and much more.

The new iPhone 4S will cost $199 with a two year contract, and will be available on AT&T, Verizon, and now Sprint.

iPods:

The iPod Nano
There really weren't many major updates to the iPod line. The two devices they changed slightly are the iPod Nano, and the iPod Touch.

The Nano has a few new features, including a new, simpler user interface, a built in sensor for exercising right out of the box, and many new clock face options. The Nano's price was lowered to $129 for the 8GB model, and $149 for the 16GB model. The Nano keeps it's same design.

The iPod Touch also got a price decrease, starting now at $199 for 8GB, and is now available in white.

The iPhone 5 Buzz

Jumat, 23 September 2011
It is expected that Apple is going to release its fifth-generation handset iPhone 5 by the end of October this year 2011. It seems as if Apple intentionally delayed the introduction of iPhone 5 for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the holiday season is around the corner and the masses have been hearing a lot of rumors regarding iPhone 5. People would love to have this new handset as gifts of Christmas and other events. Market has been greatly occupied by Apple due to this delay. Secondly, Droid Bionic is a recent entry in the market with much improved camera results. Apple had to figure out some way depending upon this market response with something even better. Also, there had been issues of reduced sales due to antenna problems with iPhone 4.

Specifications of the Apple iPhone 5

Though Apple has not disclosed any information about their upcoming product, yet the market is stuffed with a lot of matter on iPhone 5. Apple has been in the lead in the smart phone business and hopes to strengthen this lead with release of iPhone 5. The bright line of this entire buzz around is that it is going to ignite competitiveness in the smart phone business arena. Some of the specifications of iPhone 5 are mentioned.

1.       New design
2.       Smarter
3.       NFC support/Bluetooth 4
4.       Hybrid GSM/CDMA
5.       Voice Controls
6.       Better speaker and camera
7.       iOS 5
8.       Miscellaneous

1-New design: It is expected that this handset will be put in the market with a teardrop case design, i.e. the new iPhone 5 will be thicker at one end as compared to the other.

2-Smarter: It has been reported the Thunderbolt connector has been used in the design of this handset. So, iPhone 5 is supposed to be about 10% thinner than the previous models.

3-NFC support/ Bluetooth 4: iPhone 5 may come up with Bluetooth 4 implementation or with NFC support as Apple has been working on this for quite some time now.

4-Hybrid GSM/CDMA: It is expected to come up with hybrid GSM/CDMA facility which is most likely to offer advanced integrated artificial intelligence and reality support employing Siri Technology. In other words, user will be able to connect to most of the available networks using a single device. AT&T and Verizon are expected to be hit by iPhone 5 simultaneously along with reaching CDMA networks.

5-Voice Controls: An application known as Assistant is employed in new iPhone which will improve the voice controls. One will be able to send texts, make Face-time calls as well as speak music requests.

6-Better Speakers and Camera: Speakers being placed inside the new mobile device are very much improved. This handset is supposed to carry 8-megapixel camera from the Omnivision with camera modules being about 20% thinner than the previous models along with much improved LED flash light system and front camera.

7-iOS 5: Another feature is the iOS 5 on which Apple has been working quite hard. It I going to integrate with iCloud for access of computing services from anywhere.

8-Miscellaneous: Of course, enhanced processing and storage are necessary in new models. iPhone 5 comes with 1Ghz Dual-core A5 processor, 512MB RAM, up to 64 GB of storage, full HD support and above all approximately same price as existing models.

Report: Fake Cops Tried to Recover iPhone 5 Prototype

Sabtu, 03 September 2011
The tale of the iPhone 5 prototype that was allegedly lost in a bar earlier this week just took a turn that gives the case new credibility. In a report from SF Weekly, the man whose home was allegedly searched by investigators for the missing device has come forward and described how he and his family were harassed by people who said they were cops.

Who were they really? At this point, it looks like at least some of them may have been Apple security personnel. If true, that could mean Apple employees impersonated police officers, a crime punishable by up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000. There could be other charges as well.

On Wednesday, CNET reported that, in an incident eerily similar to last year's premature revelation of the iPhone 4, an Apple employee had once again accidentally left a prototype iPhone in a bar—this one a version of the upcoming iPhone 5. After it may or may not have been sold on Craigslist, Apple tracked the phone to a residence in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood.

The initial report said Apple investigators accompanied cops to the home, but now it appears that in fact no police were involved, the visitors instead merely claiming they were cops. Sergio Calderón, the man who told his story to SFWeekly says six people, four men and two women arrived saying, "Hey, Sergio, we're from the San Francisco Police Department."

Calderón said that at no point did any of the visitors say they were Apple employees. Hey says they made pointed queries about the immigration status of some of Calderón's family members and, wishing to cooperate, he allowed them to search his home and his computer. When the search failed to turn up the device, he says they offered him $300 if he'd produce it.

One of the investigators apparently gave Calderón his phone number before he left. Reporters for SFWeekly called the number and got Anthony Colon, who admitted to the paper he was an Apple employee. He also had a LinkedIn profile detailing his job as an senior investigator for Apple and a former cop, but that profile has since been removed (a cached version is here).

The story of the search of Calderón's house, if true, could mean a lot of trouble for whoever was involved, especially if they were in fact Apple employees and not active police officers. San Francisco criminal attorney Jai Gohel spelled out what the legal implications might for those individuals if that's the case.

"You're not talking about a constitutional violation if these weren't officers of the law," Gohel said. "But you could be talking about anything and everything from felony breaking-and-entering and burglary, as well as extortion, if the threat of turning in illegal immigrants happened. Then you could have impersonation of an officer and fraud. And if this was something more than Apple security going off the reservation, it could be big trouble for Apple."

The development illuminates why the San Francisco Police, when previously contacted by PCMag, had no knowledge of the case and could not track down a police report. It also explains why Apple Security didn't give SFPD any information when police began looking into the matter after several media inquiries.

If you're feeling déjà vu, you're not crazy. The case is oddly similar to what happened to a prototype of the iPhone 4 last year. In that case, the phone was ultimately sold to tech blog Gizmodo, which posted photos and a teardown of the device several weeks before its official release. The phone was eventually returned to Apple, though two men were recently charged in connection with the incident, pleading not guilty to the charges earlier this week.

Apple didn't respond to a request for comment. The San Francisco police told PCMag they are investigating a number of leads—we'll post updates as they come in. For more on what the iPhone 5 might be, see our slideshow of 8 Likely iPhone 5 Rumors, and 2 Wild Ones.

iPhone Software Development - Meeting Expectations

Jumat, 26 Agustus 2011
SmartPhones have realized a whole new digital marketing potential for businesses around the world. The iPhone (iPad), the Blackberry and Android lead the way allowing businesses to communicate with their customers in an engaging and very new way. Even so, iPhone Software Development seems to be leading the way onwards and should we say upwards.
iPhone Software Development
Budget

In the hands of a professional and altogether rational application developer mobile applications can deliver significant advantages for both businesses and their customers. However, the problem for many organisations is finding a specialist software development team who can deliver iPhone Software Applications that realise the idea and remain within budget.

iPhone Software Development can be an expensive business. Depending upon the scope mobile applications can cost a few thousand or tens of thousands. A specialist iPhone Software Development Team will have the resources and experience it takes to give businesses total control over the creative process.

Realising Potential

Invariably how successful the application is will depend upon how the technology available is utilised: And that will depend upon the experience of the iPhone Software Team. Hence, regardless of how innovative the businesses mobile application idea in the hands of an inexperienced developer that idea will rarely be realised to its full potential.

There are many considerations to be made. Will you be charging a subscription? Will advertising be included? Choosing a Software Development Team to create a mobile application is an important decision. Before committing it is advisable to gain insight with regards to the options the team will be able to provide - Some will be more comprehensive than others depending upon their experience within this specific field.

Mobile Web Marketing

iPhone Software Development - Whats Different?

Jumat, 19 Agustus 2011
Apple first introduced the iPhone in 2007 and it has since changed the world of the mobile handset. The latest and most revolutionary iPhone to date has gained serious ground since then with regards to performance levels: Today iPhone is not only the most advanced it is also the most popular. The iPhone Operating System is a world leader and because of this an experienced iPhone Software Development Team can create incredible and innovative apps for businesses.

iPhone Software DevelopmentIt stands to reason, if the iPhone is the most popular SmartPhone in the world it also offers up notable marketing opportunities for businesses. With the right iPhone Development Team with the right expertise it is possible for businesses to create innovative, quality applications. It is possible to create an application that is compatible/optimised for the iPhone: It is also possible to create an entirely 'native' application for the iPhone. However, before making up your mind which path is the best to take for your creative idea it is important to understand the difference.

From a technical point of view - iPhone Applications are only created using Cocoa. Other web applications can be created using a combination of HTML, JS and CSS which is known by far more Mobile Applications Developers overall: Hence native iPhone Applications can be more expensive to create because they require more specialist knowledge.

From a marketing and strategic point of view - Regular Mobile Apps can be deployed as soon as they are completed. All iPhone Applications must first be approved by Apple and downloaded via their store: To which commission is payable if sold. Refusal can be costly and the wait can be long: Although this is not 'usual' generally speaking.

From a Users point of view - Despite the rumour! There ARE definitely still places where the internet is not accessible: Either not available or not allowed... Many iPhone Users use their handset as much as a source of entertainment as information. Native iPhone Applications therefore are able to provide what is effectively a captive audience.

Each To Its Own End - The benefits of native iPhone Software Development and regular Mobile Applications are different but it would be hard to say any particular aspect outweighs another as a 'rule of thumb'. It all depends upon suitability - Which in turn must be determined in relation to the each and every individual creative idea.

Facebook and Twitter fuel iPhone and BlackBerry addiction, says Ofcom

Sabtu, 06 Agustus 2011
Britons' appetite for Facebook and social networks on the go is driving a huge demand for smartphones – with 60% of teenagers describing themselves as "highly addicted" to their device – according to new research by the media regulator, Ofcom.

iPhone and BlackBerry addiction

Almost half of teenagers and more than a quarter of adults now own a smartphone, with most using their iPhone or BlackBerry to browse Facebook and email.

The study, published on Thursday, also shows that smartphones have begun to intrude on our most private moments, with 47% of teenagers admitting to using their device in the toilet. Only 22% of adults confessed to the same habit. Unsurprisingly, mobile-addicted teens are more likely than adults to be distracted by their phones over dinner and in the cinema – and more would answer their phone if it woke them up.

Separate figures shared exclusively with the Guardian show that, for the first time, smartphone sales outstripped sales of regular mobiles in the first half of this year as the enormous demand continues to rise. Just over half of the total 13.6m mobile sales from January to June 2011 were smartphones, according to research by GfK Retail and Technology UK.

Of the new generation of smartphone users, 60% of teenagers classed themselves as "highly addicted" to their device, compared to 37% of adults.

Ofcom surveyed 2,073 adults and 521 children and teenagers in March this year. The regulator defines teenagers as aged between 12 and 15, with adults 16-years-old and above.

"Ofcom's report shows the influence that communications technology now has on our daily lives, and on the way we behave and communicate with each other," said James Thickett, Ofcom's director of research.

"Our research into the use of smartphones, in particular, reveals how quickly people become reliant on new technology – to the point of feeling addicted. As more and more people acquire smartphones, they are becoming an essential tool in peoples' social lives whether they are out with friends socialising or using Facebook on the move."

Facebook remains far and away the most popular website for mobile users, with users spending almost four times the amount of time socialising online than using Google or any other website. Unsurprisingly, multi-tasking teenagers said they were less likely to read books if they owned a smartphone. But they also said that owning a smartphone made them more likely to ditch games consoles like the PS3 and the computer, in favour of their pocket-sized handset.

The huge boost in smartphone sales has led to a 67% increase in mobile data use as phone users watched videos and sent emails on the go. Mobile operators, such as O2 and Vodafone, have been put under huge strain by the new load. But Thickett said the carriers are coping with the enormous demand.

"The research is saying that people are keeping their phones on longer and becoming addicted to them. This isn't a problem now but something we need to be aware of. Operators have responded by upgrading their networks so it is being coped with," Thickett said.

Despite being a nation of mobile addicts, Ofcom found that truisms still apply when it comes to traditional media like TV and radio. Other findings show:

• Britons are spending more time in front of the TV (four hours a day last year, compared to 3.8 hours in 2009). This is partly due to the rise of on-demand viewing, most notably Sky+, and an increase in the number of homes with high-definition TVs. Two newcomers to the HD market, Freeview HD and Freesat HD, have established themselves as more-affordable competitors to Virgin Media and Sky.

• The new generation of broadband, delivered by fibre-optic cables, is now available for 57% of UK households – though just 500,000 have adopted it. Four in five of those with superfast broadband said they were satisfied with the service, compared to 57% satisfaction with their previous broadband.

• Aside from offline gaming, Brits who own games consoles are most likely to use it for watching video content (22%), online gaming (22%), and watching DVDs (19%). Just over one in 10 said they browse the web via their games console, while 9% use it to watch BBC iPlayer.

• Britons sent an average of five text messages a day last year, contributing to a total of 129bn texts sent – up by 24% in 2009.

• Nearly 10m TV sets were sold in 2010, almost all of which were HD ready. The rise of internet-enabled TVs continued, with 1m sales last year, and 3D living room viewing remained a marginal activity, with 125,000 sales of 3D TVs.

However, Ofcom warned that older Britons risked being left behind in the "digital revolution". While 90% of adults aged 35-44 have the internet at home, this falls to just a quarter of over 75s. The survey showed that 51% of over 75s own a mobile phone, compared to 99% of 25-34-year-olds. Ofcom said that, for the first time, more than half of 65- to 74-year-olds have access to the internet at home, while just over three quarters own a mobile phone.

Web Development for the iPhone and iPad

Rabu, 27 Juli 2011
Web development and optimisation for the iPhone and iPad are necessary practices in today's web development industry. The iPhone operating system dominates roughly half the current worldwide Smartphone market, so for a website to be made mobile-accessible, the iPhone operating system must be given full consideration. iPhones and iPads, like all other Apple products, use the Safari browser, which can be used, with some variances, with both a desktop computer and mobile devices.

Web Development
Web development for the iPhone and iPad involves a break with conventional website design for web applications optimised specifically for the mobile medium. Often a complementary web app will need to be designed in addition to a more extensive website. Web apps can also be made as promotional and educational tool, such as a game-like diamond grading app made to promote a particular diamond dealer.

Web development for the specific iPhone operating system involves cutting down and excluding unnecessary elements of an existing website. Often making preliminary sketches on paper for the layout of a web app can prove useful for working with reduced space constraints. This prevents the website development from becoming over complicated and unworkable on the iPhone or iPad. Design of the web app must be made with the end-user in mind. The way mobile devices are used in people's everyday lives must be a considered factor in the development, as usage differs greatly from the traditional desktop computer.

Web development for the iPhone and iPad requires specific understanding of how the Safari browser works, to produce code that is optimised for the medium. Knowledge is also needed, however, of the differences between the iPhone and iPad, as there are some subtle variances between the way each work. While modern code such as HTML5 and CSS3 can be used successfully, there are many unique development aspects to be mastered before developing the web app.

Web Development
Testing a web development for the iPhone and iPad can be more complex than for a web browser. There are systems; however that simulate the iPhone operating system to enable effective testing. There are also testing tools that broadcast a website development in the making to an iPhone or iPad to visualise the web app and get all sizing and visual considerations just right.

Designing web apps for the iPhone and iPad can be an exciting way for someone in the web development industry to express their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit through a relatively new web medium.

iPhone Vs Android Development - A Comparison

iPhone and Android... both of them are the most sought after smartphones of the generation. With these two smartphones, life is getting easier and smoother. However, for a developer, application development for these two smartphones is definitely a treat, since he can address a global audience with the apps. The comparison between Android and iPhone application development is as cited below :
  • Programming language: iPhone app development language is Objective-C, which is a programming language based on C with some extensions on object-oriented versions such as interfaces, dynamic typing, classes, inheritance, messages and many more. On the other hand, android application development is based on Java. Many developers opine that Java is a no-brainer programming tool. For this reason, if you are a developer, who loves coding, iPhone application development might excite you more than android development.
  • Platform comparison: With iPhone, finding functionalities is very difficult, while the case is quite opposite with android. iPhone application is quite closed, while android development is based on open source. To download the iPhone source code, you might need to resort to Google, but downloading android source code is easier and faster. In other words, android platform classes are predictable and consistent in terms of layout. For this reason, beginner development choice should be android rather than iPhone development.
  • Programming model comparison between iPhone and Android application development: iPhone programming model is based on MVC design pattern. With this tool, building a User Interface is easier, since all the codes are orderly placed in the source code. On the other hand, the later supports multiple processes. Thus, a little complicated. However, both these platforms provide declaration of user preferences in XML. Android's XML pattern allows integrate custom user interface components. While with iPhone, it is an extensive job.
  • Resources comparison between the two platforms: There are numerous resources for iPhone developers. There are videos, so that the developers can watch them carefully and employ them. On the other hand, android offers SDK with a proper guidance of API preferences. Many developers would say that android resources are more organized and suitable for all developers. Moreover, there is no clear and accurate NDA policy of Apple in terms of open source.
  • Tooling comparison: In this section, both are almost the same. There are not many differences between their tooling systems in both these platforms. Tooling interface includes debugger, profiler, IDE, User Interface, and builder.
From the aforementioned discussion, it is clear that both iPhone and Android application development have some advantages as well as disadvantages. It depends on the developers and his wants and needs which platform he or she will choose. The pros and cons are there to help you.

IPhone Application Development a New Generation Choice

Rabu, 20 Juli 2011
From its launch on late 2007, iOS SDK has made it possible to develop applications just like native iphone applications. From very basic SDK to latest version 4.3.3 Apple has made sure that it remains developer friendly and stays in available framework. iPhone Application development has not only passed all expectations but also maintained its consistency and quality during the basic development stage to advance stage.

Apple has initially restricted many features and which latterly made available to developers to play with, which has been a bad news in market for some time, but yet it is so far the best mobile application toolkit existed. iPhone application development toolkit does not only comprise of development for iphone applications but also lets you test it in given simulator and on Apple iphone device. And this made it easy for iphone developers to develop and deliver best quality and bug free iphone app. iPhone application development tools are easy to use and SDK user interface is not that hard to catch-up, I can say even its easier then what it was at the launched time.
Apple iOS SDK used for iPhone Application Development is based on programming language ObjectiveC and is somewhat familiar with C and C++. Due to its own development library and development environment, developing for iphone has its own touch. The iphone simulator I have mentioned before can be used as onscreen GUI tool to see exactly how your iphone application will behave on device. iPhone Simulator has same look and feel as of the original iphone device. During the development of iphone application, developer can check it instantly on the simulator and solve the bugs of change the coding or designing accordingly. In iPhone application development it is just like writing in WYSIWYG editor, where what you see in development phase is what you will get on iphone device as an iphone application.

Application designing for iPhone application development is also another tool that has been provided as GUI, where iphone application developers can drag and drop components and then do coding according to their use. Apple has made sure that iphone application development is restricted enough, so that it cannot be copied or created or sold without using iOS or Apple App store. iPhone device has also been sold based on the restriction of Apple's policy to keep the app development on their native MAC OS using their hardware and their development kit. I hope this information on iPhone application development will help you understand the Apple iphone application development basic scenario both user and developer point of view.

We will go to more technical side of iphone application development on our next article and provide you more knowledge of how to develop app and also how to run your first developed iphone applications on simulator.

iPhone Application Development Revolutionizes World Of Smartphones

Minggu, 17 Juli 2011
iPhone application development has taken the business world by a storm. Earlier the internet was being accessed through the desktop PCs and laptops. The business world was fast to react to the potential of the internet. The internet had entered the offices and households that were usually inaccessible to the sales representative of the company. Operating the business through the internet had a lot of advantages besides saving time, money and valuable resources. The websites were designed to be compatible with the operating system and platform of the desktop PCs and laptops. This scenario was not to last long because the technology evolved to make the mobile phone device as good as the computer.

A smart phone is a mobile phone that besides telecommunication offers a wide array of features like accessing the internet, games, diary organizer, camera, video recording, receiving and sending text and picture messages, and entertainment such as radio. The leading brands of smart phones in the market include the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android.

What is so unique about iPhone?
Not only are the features of iPhone unique but also the marketing strategy deployed by Apple, the makers of iPhone. The Apple Inc. has started the Apple Store. This is the online store for buying the iPhone Applications. The iPhone application developers after developing an application can put it for sale through the online Apple store. Apple Inc. gives a whopping 70% of the proceeds of the sale to the application developer and just keeps a meager 20% for itself. This innovative strategy to persuade the developers to develop meaningful applications could be called backward integration but has turned out to be very effective in case of iPhone. This not only adds the features to the iPhone but also creates a better goodwill among the developers.

Why is iPhone application development necessary?
As mentioned earlier the popularity of iPhone is soaring and so are its sales. The iPhone users are now a niche market segment, never to be neglected by a smart business. The competition among the businesses makes it mandatory for the business not to leave a single stone unturned for making the best of services available to the buyers. If a website cannot be displayed on the screen of the iPhone, it is the loss for the business on the iPhone user because it is possible that the competitor may have already prepared an application compatible with the operating system and platform of the iPhone.
It is always better to hire the services of an expert professional iPhone application developer so that the iPhone users do not find any difficulty in accessing your website. The early bird takes the worm. This saying is very apt for this scenario too.

Become Familiar With iPhone Application Development

The smart phone has become a necessity in life for most people, and you can imagine how much money has been spent not only on the phones themselves, but also on the apps that have been downloaded on each one. If you have ever played a game, or used an app that you thought you could have created or improved upon, iPhone application development could be an excellent way to use your creativity and make money.

On average, iPhone users purchase and download 10 apps per month, and ipod touch users purchase an average of eighteen per month. For both of these devices the average of free downloaded apps is between eight and sixteen per month. The free downloads are a great way to practice and expand on your ideas for applications, and it also lets you see how popular your idea is, and how many people wanted your app on their phone. If you do decide to sell your app for a price, and it succeeds, then you can become part of the industry that makes millions of dollars worth of applications every month.

You need to have a few things ready before you start the developing process, and the first thing you need is an idea. You also need to have an Intel base Mac computer, SDK (software development kit) and an iPhone simulator. All of these features can be downloaded to your computer, but eventually it would benefit you to get your own phone or iPod touch so you can see how the app runs on the actual device.

First of all, you can't do any iPhone development without SDK, and you can download this software for free at the apple developer website. When you get to the website you need to click on the Dev Center tab, and become a registered iPhone developer. In the Dev Center you will find information for documentation, sample codes and this is where you will find the button to download SDK.

After downloading, the most important content in your folder will be the Xcode, because this is the foundation for building applications. When you open the Developer application, drag Xcode to dock, and you are ready to start.
Click on Xcode and when the window opens up, you will have your interface builder in front of you. Go to the file tab and use the drop down menu and select "New Project". You will then be given options for different templates, specific to the type of app you want to design. The best option for beginners is the Window based Application, and after you choose this you can start to build your app by applying labels and texts.

Next, you need to start coding, this will always seem confusing at first, but it only takes a small amount of time to get used to the language. Objection C is the language used to create all iPhone app programming. Basic codes connect an IB outlet to a UI label, adding another IB outlet for your main text field, and then adding an IB action to your buttons.

If you have an idea for an app, spend the time to learn the coding and programming for iPhone application development, and watch as your ideas and talent appear in the daily lives of others.

How to Become a Successful iPhone Game Developer

Rabu, 13 Juli 2011
Ever heard of an Ethan Nicholas? Ethan held a fairly average job down at Sun Microsystems. That is until he developed a little game called iShoot on iPhone and now he's a very happy man. Why? Because he's stinking rich!

Although Ethan's unexpected hobby made him rich by coincidence, the world of iPhone game development is becoming highly competitive, very quickly. Perhaps this has a lot to do with the fact that iPhone game developers get to keep a large sum of their profits from selling their game.

While it is a sea of opportunities, the iPhone game development world is still a big maze, with hundreds of developers being rejected every day. However, if you want to become the next Ethan Nicholas, and spare rejection, here are some handy tips.
  1. Bugs - This speaks for itself. If your game has a bug that causes the iPhone application to crash, then chances are Apple won't risk annoying its customers by buying your game. Make sure you run several tests, on multiple devices and under different network conditions. Write out unit test codes for your regression testing as well.
  2. Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) - Although Apple is very strict about its HIG, there have been instances when applications have been approved despite minor violations of the guidelines. However, after all that hardwork, would you want to fall into the reject pile? My advice - stick to the codes.
  3. Internet usage - If your game requires internet connection, and there is no network available, then it is actually against the guidelines to simply state "trying to connect". So remember to inform the user if network is unavailable and test your game under no connectivity conditions, as that is how Apple does it.
  4. Bandwidth allowance - As a fellow user yourself, you probably wouldn't want to play a game that uses too much bandwidth as it can get very expensive and drain the battery quickly. iPhone consultants at Apple suggest not using more than 4.5Megabytes worth of data for every 5 minutes of usage. Again, check the data usage before you submit your game.
  5. Copyright infringement and Privacy Breach- It is common to use famous people in a less than polite way in games, which is all in good fun. However, iPhone has strict rules against poking fun at politicians or celebrities in their games.
  6. In-app purchases - These days, every other iPhone game developer includes in-app shopping, and while they add a different dimension to games, they can also be misleading when purchases transcend play shopping into real credit card usage. In fact, a new class-action lawsuit is being taken against Apple by parents and guardians, whose children have been making these virtual purchases without realizing that they were actually going to be billed for them. So spare yourself and Apple the legal issues, and inform gamers clearly, if in-app purchases are in fact, real buys.
Many of these tips might be considered useful, and they are, however, the world of iPhone game development is not limited to these guidelines alone. If you're truly passionate about your creation, and are not 100% iPhone game development savvy, then perhaps it is best to seek the advice of professionals.
